On September 21st, Fashion Fiesta returns for its third year to host one of Bradford’s most successful fashion shows. The show will raise money for its partnered charity, One In A Million. OIAM is a Bradford-based children & young people’s charity, co-founded by Wayne Jacobs, a former Bradford City footballer & assistant manager. The charity provides sports, arts and enterprise programmes & pathways, predominantly for disadvantaged children and young people in Bradford and the surrounding areas. These programmes are designed to break cycles of deprivation which hover over many of their young lives. Organisers of the fashion show are hoping to smash their target of the £1000 raised last year.
The show will be hosted in Bradford’s beautiful and picturesque Midland Hotel. Founder and organiser of the show, Rachel Hatfield, explained that the show’s ethos focuses on: “Community, sharing and collaboration. Not a single person or organisation benefits from this show; rather, everyone who takes part finds that they will benefit hugely. The show is a competition for entrepreneurial fashion designers, makeup artists and models to compete in three separate heats. Local businesses and aspiring business leaders donate the prizes for each heat. This is just one example of how the show is a collaborative effort from many individuals in the local community, not just myself and the team.”
The first prize for the fashion designers is 3 months of Business Coaching from esteemed coach Phillip Parramore, Director of Guide Dot You. For second place, a photo shoot of the designer’s collection from Alan Carmichael of Capricorn Photography, and for third, Social Media training for Shoo Social’s Co-founder Chris Morris.
Makeup artists will also find themselves competing for the first prize of a professional marketing Video to use for their self-promotion, donated by Alan Tisch of Sync Media. The second prize is again a photoshoot, this time donated by Charles Waller, and the third has been donated by Chip Parade’s Director Carl Marsden, who is offering to host the makeup artist’s website.
Models are also encouraged to apply for Fashion Fiesta, as the first prize for amateur models is a modelling contract with Sofia Model Management. Each model that takes part will also receive a photoshoot in the evening, in which Alan Carmichael will provide them with headshots.
The venue is set to be even more successful than last year, with many judges of repute donating their time to the event. The traction gained by last year’s show has meant that loyal fans of the show will be returning, and the sponsors for this year have been offered bigger and better packages. The evening promises to showcase the best fashion from designers and artists across the UK and raise money for the community projects funded by OIAM. Young people from the charity will also perform on the night and model last year’s winner, DazaRock’s collection.
